🐝 Buzz Into Bee Week at the Farmers Market! 🍯Summer at the farmers market is bursting with vibrant flowers, sun-ripened fruits, and fresh-picked vegetables—but behind all that seasonal abundance is one tiny powerhouse: the honeybee. These incredible pollinators play a vital role in helping many of the foods we enjoy grow and thrive, making every market day possible. Here are a few amazing bee facts to share with your family:
🐝 A single honeybee can visit up to 5,000 flowers in one day.
🐝 During the summer, a hive can be home to as many as 60,000 busy bees.
🐝 It takes the lifetime work of about 12 honeybees to produce just one teaspoon of honey. Every drizzle on your toast or spoonful in your tea is the result of thousands of tiny flights and countless blossoms. Honey is much more than a sweet treat. Local honey can be drizzled over yogurt, cheese, biscuits, and roasted vegetables, stirred into marinades and dressings, or used as a natural sweetener in baked goods and beverages. Bees also give us beeswax, which is used to make candles, soaps, lip balms, and other handcrafted products you’ll often find at local markets. And for those looking to explore something a little different, honey is also the key ingredient in mead—one of the world’s oldest fermented beverages.
