There’s nothing quite like a fresh, locally grown summer tomato—juicy, colorful, and bursting with the flavor of the season! And this week, the Billerica Community Farmers Market is celebrating one of summer’s favorite crops with a Tomato-themed market that’s sure to be a big dill…er, tomato! 🍅

Too Many Tomatoes? No Such Thing! Celebrate tomato season with a salad that’s as easy as it is delicious using the recipe included in this week’s newsletter. Pick up your tomatoes, corn, cucumber, basil, olive oil and more at the market, then toss everything together for a fresh taste of summer. No oven. No fuss. Just fresh!

Get ready for our annual Tomat-O-Rama Contest, where we’ll put some of the market’s most impressive home-grown tomatoes in the spotlight. Whether you grow them yourself or simply appreciate a perfectly ripe tomato, you won’t want to miss the fun!

Chip-in Farm was founded in 1944 when the Couvee family “chipped in” to purchase a small farm in Bedford, Massachusetts.

Tomatoes will be judged on size, shape & flavor by our panel of judges.

Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place Winners.

🍅 Fresh Market Tomato, Corn & Cucumber Salad

A no-cook summer recipe that lets fresh market tomatoes shine!

This is an especially good farmers market recipe because almost everything can be picked up from local vendors—and it comes together in about 10 minutes.

Ingredients

3–4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
1 cucumber, diced
1–2 ears fresh corn, kernels cut from the cob
¼ small red onion, thinly sliced
¼ cup fresh basil, torn
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice or red wine vinegar
Salt & freshly ground pepper
¼ cup crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Directions

Add the tomatoes, cucumber, corn, red onion, and basil to a large bowl.
Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice or vinegar.
Season with salt and pepper and gently toss.
Sprinkle with feta, if desired.
Let it sit for 10–15 minutes before serving so the flavors come together.

🌱 Market Tip

Let the tomatoes be the star! Choose a mix of colorful heirloom, cherry, grape, or slicing tomatoes for a beautiful market-fresh salad. For an extra boost of flavor, add whatever fresh herbs you find at the market.

The LRTA bus - Route 13 stops across the street from our market at Boston Road / Pinedale Ave!

The Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA) Free Pilot Program is extended thru Sept 30, 2026 for Fixed Bus Routes. (Fares may resume 10/1/2026 Subject to State Funding)
