Opening Day is Monday June 17th

Dear Friends of Billerica Community Farmers Market,

It’s only a couple days away from opening day and we are psyched!

Here’s what you need to know….

LOCATION UPDATES

We are located at 793 Boston Rd, Billerica, MA, 01821 (The site of the old Thomas Ditson School).

Free parking is available on Grove Street across from the Emerald Rose and also at the Community Congregational Church at 803 Boston Rd.

You’ll find we added 6 picnic tables, provided by the Town of Billerica. Several are ADA compliant, for which one side of the benches are shorter to ensure that wheelchair users can easily approach the table and fit comfortably.

THE BIG TENT - DJ Dave’s Mobile Entertainment is back!! Get ready to dance and sing along with this one-of-a-kind, rolling DJ booth.

KIDS TENT - We’ll have a craft activity available for kids to make & take, while supplies last. Special guest character(s) from Sugar Plum Parties are expected to drop in to visit. For a fee, face-painting will be offered at one of the Vendor tents.

DEMO TENT - Do you have questions about what to plant now? Ask our Master Gardener, Susan Haas, how to break through your gardening challenges

MARKET MANAGERS TENT - Find out more about our Market, ask questions, discover how you can volunteer, and redeem your SNAP benefits. Let us know what you’d like to see at our market! We want to hear from you.

Come by to welcome the latest addition to our BCFM Board of Directors, Mary Leach. Mary brings an abundance of value to our community and we are super excited to have her on our team!

COMMUNITY PARTNERS TENT - Visit and learn more about what is going on in our own back yard with the SuAsCo Wild and Scenic River Stewardship Council.

TAKE PICTURES - We want to see and show everyone all the fun going on but we can’t be everywhere in the crowd. We invite you to take pictures of your experiences at the Market and share them on our Facebook Group.Opening Bell is 3pm and Closing Bell is 7pm.

Each week, we strive to present our community with an exciting assortment of nearby farms and vendors. You’re sure to find locally sourced vegetables, fruits & honey along with breads, pasta, hamburgers, hot dogs, sauces, empanadas, seafood, fudge, lemonade, baked goods, unique crafts, and much more! Stay for the live music, demonstrations, and activities under the big tent! Food trucks will also be on-site and many vendors offer ready-to-eat goodies allowing patrons to enjoy a snack after shopping.

SNAP

Last year, we sustained our SNAP program with a grant from the Town of Billerica - Community Funds Grant, and we were able to match dollar for dollar up to $15.00 per family visit. Over the Season, we processed 184 transactions for a total of $5,588 SNAP dollars, of which, $2,436 were SNAP matched by the Billerica Community Farmers Market funds.

This year, with donations from our Corporate Sponsors, Grants and Friends of the Market, we are proudly able to continue matching up to $15.00 per family visit, as long as funding allows.

SNAP stands for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. It is a federal nutrition program (formerly known as food stamps) that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries. Find out if you are eligible for SNAP benefits.

2024 BCFM Entertainment

Crystal, our Entertainment Manager is planning a market season of exciting themes, kids activities, demonstrations, music, performances & give aways. With appreciation to the Mass Cultural Council and Billerica Cultural Council, Billerica Community Farmers Market received a grant to continue 2024 programs in support of the arts, humanities, and/or interpretive sciences for the benefit of our Community. Every day we’re booking more activities to enjoy this season.

THANK YOU FOR DOING YOUR PART - We ask for your help to keep our new location tidy and well maintained by cleaning up after yourself and leaving the area the way you found it.

- Please do not litter

- Minimize your own trash; reduce the amount of waste you bring into the Market by using re-usable containers that you can bring home afterwards.

- Use the garbage cans located throughout the Market.

- Practice pack it in, pack it out; if you bring something with you, take it with you when you leave.

- Treat the property at the Market with respect: Tents, Tables, Chairs, Portable Restrooms, Handwashing Stations, Signs, Vehicles, Materials, etc.

- Inform the Market Managers promptly of any concerns or ideas to keep the area clean & safe.
