FALL APPLE FESTIVAL & SEASON FINALE!

Yes, you read that correctly. It’s the grand finale, folks - our very last farmers market of the 2025 season and we’re going out in style with a true New England Fall Apple Festival. Enjoy family-friendly fun with apple-themed offerings.

Crisp air, colorful leaves and the sweet smell of fresh-picked apples - it must be Fall in New England! Join us as we celebrate the harvest with our Apple Festival at the farmers market. Local farms are bringing their best Fall harvests for you. Stock up on everything for baking, snacking, canning, cooking and decorating and holiday gift shopping before winter settles in. Visit our prepared food Vendors who will be highlighting the tastes of pure autumn happiness and don’t forget our Artisans Vendors for their autumn inspired crafts.

So grab your flannel, bring a friend, come hungry and help us close out the season with one last bushel of fun at the market!

BIG TENT - Grab a spot at a table, say hi to your neighborsmile and be happy while you enjoy music by Bob Leger.

KIDS TENT - Each week we feature free kids crafts, games or activities. Staffed by our volunteer art directors, there’s will always be fun things to do at this tent.

DEMO TENT - Chef Stacy will be showcasing simple juicer recipes using apples with other ingredients all sourced from our Market Farms.

Here are some of my favorite apple juicer ideas for you to try, ranging from classic sweet juices to flavorful green juice blends. All these can be made easily with a standard juicer. Yummmmmmmm!

What are the best dinner recipes with apples from farmers market?

We always fall to good ole fashion apple crisp, but I want to find recipes to incorporate apples from the farmers market into dinners. While many people associate apples with dessert, their sweet-tart flavor is also perfect for savory dinner recipes. Some of the best include pork chops with caramelized apples, chicken roasted with apples and root vegetables, and savory apple and onion tarts. 

1. Pork chops with caramelized apples

A classic pairing, apples, and pork are a match made in heaven. The sweet apples and savory pork create a balanced and comforting meal. 

Ingredients

• 4 bone-in pork chops

• 2 large, firm apples (like Honeycrisp or Granny Smith), thinly sliced

• 1 large onion, thinly sliced

• 2 tbsp butter, divided

• ½ cup apple cider

• 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

• 1 tsp fresh sage, chopped

• Salt and pepper to taste 

Instructions

1. Season pork chops generously with salt and pepper.

2. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops for about 6 minutes per side, until golden brown.

3. Remove the pork chops from the pan and set aside.

4. Add the remaining butter to the skillet, then add the sliced onions and apples. Cook until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes.

5. Pour in the apple cider and stir, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Whisk in the Dijon mustard and sage.

6. Return the pork chops to the skillet and simmer for 6–10 minutes, or until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.

7. Serve the pork chops topped with the apple and onion mixture. 

2. Roasted chicken with fennel and apples

This one-pan meal is a simple yet elegant way to showcase seasonal ingredients. As the chicken roasts, the apples and fennel become tender and sweet, infusing the entire dish with flavor. 

Ingredients

• 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

• 2 apples (such as Haralson or another tart variety), cored and cut into wedges

• 1 fennel bulb, trimmed and sliced

• 1 onion, chopped

• 2 tbsp olive oil

• 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped

• 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped

• Salt and pepper to taste 

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. On a large baking sheet, toss the apple wedges, fennel, and onion with olive oil, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper.

3. Arrange the chicken thighs on top of the vegetables.

4. Roast for 30–40 minutes, or until the chicken skin is golden and crisp and the chicken is cooked through. 

3. Savory apple and cheddar tart

A perfect option for a light dinner or a sophisticated appetizer, this rustic tart combines the flavors of sweet apples, caramelized onions, and sharp cheddar cheese. 

Ingredients

• 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed

• 2 apples, thinly sliced

• 2 sweet onions, thinly sliced

• 2 tbsp butter

• 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

• ½ cup crème fraîche or sour cream

• 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves

• Salt and pepper to taste 

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

2. Melt the butter in a skillet and cook the onions over medium-low heat until soft and caramelized, about 20 minutes.

3. Roll out the puff pastry and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

4. In a small bowl, mix the crème fraîche, cheddar cheese, thyme, salt, and pepper.

5. Spread the crème fraîche mixture over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Top with the caramelized onions and a single layer of apple slices.

6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
